Cinema Chance Cube, Episode 89: Oops! All Shannon

"Now what?"

It’s been about a month since I turned the most important age of all, so for our latest Cinema Chance Cube episode the other boys bizarrely agreed to let me stack the Cube entirely with my own choices. Me being me I picked a bunch of goofy genre pictures, mostly from the 1990s. I have a type. Here are my choices:

  • Renny Harlin’s 1999 mega mako shark masterpiece, Deep Blue Sea.
  • Army of Darkness, Sam Raimi’s 1992 conclusion to his splatstick Evil Dead trilogy.
  • Blade director Stephen Norrington’s 1994 debut Death Machine, featuring Brad Dourif and his pet killer robot.
  • Stephen Sommers pits Treat Williams and (sigh) Famke Janssen against an army of tentacle monsters in the 1998 creature feature Deep Rising.
  • Peter Jackson, who went on to do nothing else with his career, made the insanely gory 1992 zombie comedy Dead Alive.
  • One-non 90s movie! Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunns’ 2006 body horror comedy Slither!

And what movie did fate choose? Deep RisingThis movie is a hoot, and we enjoyed the hell out of recording this episode. Happy birthday to me!
