This Trailer for PRIMITIVE WAR Actually Looks… Okay?

I’ve been saying for decades that there need to be more dinosaur movies. Dinosaur movies that don’t have Jurassic in the title and where the dinosaurs aren’t genetically merged with something weird like cuttlefish or Newt Gingrich or something. If we can have tons of zombie pictures we can have tons of dinosaur movies. The closest we’ve gotten recently was 65 which was terrible in general, and also the creatures were barely recognizable as dinosaurs.

So now we have the upcoming Primitive Warfrom director Luke Sparke and starring Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) and Jeremy Piven (Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World). Here’s the pitch.

Vietnam. 1968. A recon unit known as Vulture Squad is sent to an isolated jungle valley to uncover the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon. They soon discover they are not alone.

That kind of buries the lede, but okay. Let’s check out the trailer.

In retrospect it feels sort of odd that, as far as I know, there has not been a Vietnam War dinosaur movie before. But, hey! This actually looks promising! A b-movie creature feature that actually looks like a movie and isn’t chasing that lazy, decade old Sharknado bullshit.

I’m on board, but I am an easy mark.
