Cinema Chance Cube, Episode 23: BLACK PANTHER

The news of Chadwick Boseman’s passing hit all of us at Lewton Bus very hard. A young, exciting talent was ripped out of our world far too soon, and we are all so much poorer for it. With that in mind, Kevin, Shannon, and I decided to break format this week and try to celebrate the work of Chadwick Boseman by selecting 6 of his films to load the Cube.

As Fate would have it, the movie that made Chadwick Boseman an icon, Black Panther, was the randomly selected choice, and we were able to sit down and dig into what an absolute game-changer this film is and was. This episode is full of love and appreciation for Boseman, Ryan Coogler, and the rest of this legendary cast. And while the circumstances leading to it are heartbreaking, we do our best to honor a film and movie that ignited a fire in the world, centered around a performance that is already iconic.

Kevin brought 42, and 21 Bridges, while I selected this film and the James Brown biopic Get On Up, and Shannon rounded out the Cube with Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, and Marshall. Any one of these would have been exciting to talk about, but there’s something fitting about landing on the film that transformed Chadwick Boseman into a legend.

We hope you’ll enjoy.
